To our Motherly Tribe,
This past month, our mother-daughter duo has been busy advocating for incarcerated survivors! If you haven’t seen or heard, here are some things they’ve been up to! 1. Nailah and Tamika were featured in the Bolts Magazine article “Domestic Violence Survivors Seek a Pathway Out of Louisiana Prisons”.
You can read more about how a new bill could help criminalized and incarcerated abuse survivors in Louisiana here. 2. Nailah moderated a panel on Women and Girls Impacted by Incarceration at Dillard University featuring Ivy Mathis of Successful Imperfections, Katie Hunter-Lowry of The Promise of Justice Initiative, Dr. Ashraf Esmail of Dillard University, and Gabrielle Perry of The Thurman Perry Foundation.
